Für Rainald Goetz scheint der Fall klar zu sein: „Pops Glück ist, daß Pop kein Problem hat. Deshalb kann man Pop nicht denken, nicht kritisieren, nicht analytisch schreiben, sondern Pop ist Pop leben, fasziniert betrachten, besessen studieren, maximal materialreich erzählen, feiern. Es gibt keine andere vernünftige Weise über Pop zu reden, als hingerissen auf das Hinreißende zu zeigen, hey, super.“

In diesem Seminar wollen wir über Pop reden, indem wir uns mit unterschiedlichen theoretischen Positionen zum Pop, u.a. von Theodor W. Adorno, Susan Sontag, Leslie Fiedler und Diedrich Diederichsen beschäftigen. Zudem werden wir künstlerische Umsetzungen des Pop in den Blick nehmen. Dabei fokussieren wir Popliteratur, beschäftigen uns aber ggf. ergänzend mit Phänomenen aus der Musik, dem Film und der Mode.
