Auf der Basis des Buches „Der flexible Mensch. Die Kultur des neuen Kapitalismus“ von Richard Sennett werden Fragen der Veränderung der Arbeitswelt in der Folge des flexiblen Kapitalismus analysiert und kritisch diskutiert. Neben der Analyse von gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen und Umstrukturierungen von Organisationen wird auf Anforderungen der einzelnen Individuen eingegangen, welche mit Herausforderungen bezüglich Beruf, Wohnort, soziale Kontakte, Familie etc. konfrontiert werden.

Erwartet wird eine regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung, die Lektüre des Buches von Richard Sennett sowie die Bereitschaft, sich angeleitet durch Arbeitsaufgaben mit Themen wie Flexibilisierung, Flexicurity, Prekarisierung, Mobilität, Dequalifizierungsprozesse, Sozialpolitik etc. kritisch auseinanderzusetzen. Eine benotete Einzelleistung kann durch ein Referat mit schriftlicher Ausarbeitung erbracht werden.
