Die Übung bildete zusammen mit dem Seminar: Französische Revolution und Europa ein Hauptmodul Vormoderne und ist für die Studierenden, die an diesem Seminar teilnehmen, obligatorisch. Zusätzlich steht die Übung auch für interessierte Studierende des Bachelorstudiengangs offen. Über die allgemeine thematische Ausrichtung der Übung informiert der Kommentar zum Seminar. In der Übung werden in Ergänzung zum Seminar ausgewählte Fachliteratur sowie verschiedene Quellentexte aus europäischen Zeitungen, Flugschriften und Broschüren gelesen und interpretiert, in denen die Französische Revolution als europäisches Medienereignis exemplarisch greifbar wird.

Zu Beginn der Veranstaltung wird den Studierenden ein Reader mit Texten und Fachliteratur verteilt.
