Die Studiengruppe wurde im Juli 2006 gegründet, um fortgeschrittenen Studierenden und DoktorandInnen mit Interesse an der Unternehmens- und/oder Wirtschaftsgeschichtsgeschichte ein Diskussionsforum zu schaffen. Die Studiengruppe will theoretische Ansätze zur Unternehmensgeschichtsschreibung sowie aktuelle Arbeiten von Teilnehmenden diskutieren. Darüber hinaus besteht auch die Möglichkeit, Konzepte anhand von Archivmaterialien des Unternehmensarchivs der Volkswagen AG empirisch zu überprüfen. Auch allgemeine wirtschaftsgeschichtliche Themen werden behandelt.
