Die Vorlesung befasst sich mit der Frage, inwieweit deutsche Gerichte bei grenzüberschreitenden Sachverhalten international zuständig sind. Neben den Regeln der ZPO stehen hier vor allem die Rechtsakte der Europäischen Gemeinschaft (Verordnungen Brüssel I und IIa) im Mittelpunkt. Kann ein deutscher Verbraucher, der im Internet Waren aus England bestellt hat, auf Minderung des Kaufpreises in Deutschland klagen? Anschließend werden die Anerkennung und Vollstreckbarerklärung ausländischer Entscheidungen erörtert. Dies betrifft etwa die Fragen, ob die Scheidung einer Homosexuellen-Ehe in den Niederlanden auch in Deutschland anerkannt wird oder ob sich ein Schuldner gegen die Vollstreckbarerklärung eines französischen Bürgschaftsurteils wehren kann.
