Zu den gewichtigsten Beiträgen der deutschen Literatur gehört im Bereich von Drama und Theater des 20. Jahrhunderts zweifellos Bertolt Brechts Episches Theater. Anhand ausgewählter Stücke und die ihre Produktion begleitenden theoretischen Reflexionen sollen die Besonderheiten dieser Theaterform herausgearbeitet und in ihrem historischen Kontext situiert werden.
