Migration, Body and Food in Asian American Literature

Departing from an analysis of food, body, and mobility in the film Eat Drink Man Woman that will help us to frame the course program theoretically, we will explore migration, body, and food as key metaphors for the process of identity formation in Asian American literature. We will read short stories and novels by authors belonging to different subgroups (Indian American, Chinese American, Korean American) to explore how the three key tropes signify and intersect in 20th century Asian American fiction.
