Die Vorlesung Sprachliche Varietäten, Sprachkontakt und Sprachwandel führt ein in die wissenschaftliche Analyse der verschiedenen Aspekte der Historizität menschlicher Sprache: Diese äußert sich zum einen in der regionalen, sozialen und situationellen Variabilität historischer Einzelsprachen, sie wird zum andern sichtbar in der aktuellen Sprachenvielfalt der Welt, sie äußert sich schließlich im Phänomen des beständigen Wandels von natürlichen Sprachsystemen (Sprachwandel).
