Das Tempussystem des Deutschen weist gegenüber den Systemen anderer indoeuropäischer Sprachen einige Besonderheiten auf, die sich vor allem durch
- futurische Bedeutungen des Präsens und modale Lesarten des Futurs
- Konkurrenz zweier teilweise, aber nicht vollständig gegeneinander austauschbarer Vergangenheitstempora
- das Fehlen obligatorischer Aspektmarkierungen
auszeichnet. Dieses System soll in einer typologisch-vergleichenden und historischen Perspektive rekonstruiert werden. Dabei sollen auch unterschiedliche Textsorten auf die Besonderheiten des Tempusgebrauchs hin untersucht werden. Je nach den Sprachkenntnissen der Teilnehmer sollen andere Tempus- und Aspektsysteme vergleichend in die Betrachtung einbezogen werden.
