Die Veranstaltung findet statt im Rahmen des Promotionsstudiengangs (Kolloquium) und des MA Gender Studies (Abschlussmodul), der auch anderen Studierenden offen steht, die sich in der Endphase ihres Studiums befinden bzw. das Thema ihrer Abschlussarbeit näher zu bestimmen versuchen. Diese Veranstaltung ist keine Ersatzveranstaltung etwa zum Schreiblabor, in der es um das Schreiben verschiedener Texttypen geht (Thesenpapiere, Exposés etc.). Es geht vielmehr um die schriftliche Darstellung komplexer - eigener und "fremder" - Gedankengänge.
Im Zentrum des Kolloquiums steht die Präsentation von Dissertationen und anderen Abschlussarbeiten in ihrem jeweiligen Stadium. Ferner werden Texte über das Schreiben und das Formulieren von Fragen gelesen und diskutiert; einige praktische Übungen werden angeboten. Auch Studierende in der Themenfindungsphase für ihre Anschlussarbeit können teilnehmen.
