230737 Englisch: English Special Topics: The History, Culture and Architecture of London, level B2 and above (S) (SoSe 2018)

This course will showcase one of the greatest cities in the world: LONDON! Students will exercise their speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills by learning about the varied history of London, its place as the capital of the United Kingdom, the tradition of art, literature, and culture that came from the city, and the fascinating and unusual architecture, both historical and modern-day.
As part of the course, students will plan a sightseeing trip to London, picking out important places to see. After the semester ends we will take this trip as a group. NOTE: Going on this trip is NOT a requirement for taking the course.
Requirements include one 10-15 minute presentation, and several short writing assignments.

Successful completion of any B1 (or above)-rated course or C-Test of the Language Center (for dates please see http://www.uni-bielefeld.de/fachsprachenzentrum/tests_and_certs/placement.html)
