285413 Photonics (V) (SoSe 2018)

Contents, comment

The interaction of radiation with matter comprises rather diverse phenomena and forms the foundation for many important technologes. Photonics is the subject concerned with the whole range of these phenomena and includes for example fiber optics, laser technology, and modern lighting technology (LEDs). Based on a short introduction to the basics of light matter interaction the lecture will cover the following main topics:

  • Lasers
  • Ultrashort pulse generation and broad bandwidth optics
  • Nonlinear optics
  • Attosceond pulse generation
  • Photonic crystals and metamaterials
  • Nanophotonics

The tutorial group will comprise lab experiments.
