Sunt qui Propertium malint. Ouidius utroque lasciuior, sicut durior Gallus.

Ovid wird also von Quintilian als frecher, übermütiger oder zügelloser als Properz und Tibull eingestuft. Diesem Werteurteil wollen wir in diesem Seminar nachgehen: Was zeichnet Ovids Elegien aus, die sein Erstlings- und Lieblingswerk sind? Finden sich hier bereits die innovativen und witzigen Elemente, für die er so berühmt ist?

Tibull und Properz sowie Catull als Vorreiter der Elegie sollen ebenso zu Wort kommen.
