In this seminar, we will focus on contemporary communicative language teaching methods such as TBLT, CLL, CLIL and the Lexical Approach and also examine insights from theory and research on how to use visual material effectively to support language learning and teaching. Subsequently, we will explore practical implementations of visual materials in for a wide range of language learning purposes in a variety of different EFL contexts. This practical phase will include creating our own materials as well: don't worry, there will be a highly interactive and entertaining workshop that will prove to you that anyone can draw! This seminar is for students planning to teach at all levels, from primary to upper secondary school (YES, you CAN use pictures in the Oberstufe!)
