Produktion, Vermittlung, Verbreitung und Rezeption bilden Bestandteile des komplexen Prozesses "Literatur". Die Veranstaltung führt in die Theorie und Geschichte außerschulischer Institutionen der Literaturvermittlung ein. Thematisiert werden literarische Instanzen (Autor, Werk, Publikum), Institutionen des Literatursystems (Verlag, Buchhandel, Bibliothek) sowie Prozesse und Formen literaturvermittelnder Kommunikation (Literaturkritik, Literarische Gesellschaften, Literaturhäuser).
