230621 Medialization of Shakespeare's Plays: Text, Stage, Film etc. (S) (SoSe 2007)

This course will analyse various examples of theatrical, filmic and print medializations of plays from Shakespeare with a particular focus on the tension between the Elizabethan original and the modern media adaptation of the play.

Among the plays that will be selected for detailed inspection and analysis will be

''- Richard II

  • Romeo and Juliet
  • The Merchant of Venice
  • Twelfth Night
  • Macbeth''

Credit Points will be awarded for a (group) presentation, a review of the performance/film/print adapatation and a critical assessment of its aesthetics.
