Hinter der Bezeichnung "Strukturalismus" verbirgt sich der Versuch, das Methodeninventar der Geistes- und Humanwissenschaften zu erneuern: Die Beschreibung historischer und kultureller Phänomene sollte vom Individuellen, Zufälligen und Besonderen abgelöst und als relationale Gesamtheit von Elementen eines kulturellen Systems "exakt" erfaßt und beschrieben werden können.
In der Literaturwissenschaft hat die strukturale Methode besonders nachhaltig gewirkt und ist mit so bedeutenden Namen wie Lévi-Strauss, Roman Jakobson, Todorov, Greimas und Lucien Goldmann verknüpft.
Die Veranstaltung ist als Theorieseminar konzipiert und wird sich mit Grundtexten der strukturalen Literaturwissenschaft auseinandersetzen. Sie führt in Terminologie, Geschichte und Grundfragen der strukturalen Methode ein und will Chancen und Grenzen strukturalistischer Verfahren in der Literaturwissenschaft erörtern. Zu Semesterbeginn kann ein Reader erworben werden.Zur Einführung:
