Für viele ökologische und naturschutz-relevante Arbeiten ist eine gute Kenntnis der heimischen Fauna unabdingbar. Landschaftsbegutachtung und ¿planung, Biotopkartierung und Ausgleichsmaßnahmen sind ohne diese Kenntnis nicht durchzuführen. Im Vordergrund steht das Kennenlernen einheimischer Arten ausgewählter Gruppen der Invertebraten (v.a. Käfer), deren standardisierte Erfassung und statistische Auswertung zur Beantwortung gezielter Fragestellungen.
