This seminar deals with the ideas and actors of social policy in the European Union. We will learn about methodological transnationalism and multi-level governance; we will explore the history of the EU, identify its key institutions and how they work. At the core of the seminar we will discuss the European Social Model and different social policy fields such as European labour and health policy.
The seminar language is English (regarding preparatory reading, lectures and student presentations). Written pieces (protocols, term papers, essays) may be in German or in English.
