Im Modul Sozialstrukturanalyse und soziale Ungleichheit werden regelhaft im Wintersemester Grundlagen vermittelnde Seminare angeboten, im Sommersemester theoretisch oder empirisch vertiefende Seminare (vgl. Homepage: http://www.uni-bielefeld.de/soz/ab5/). Bei diesem Seminar handelt es sich um ein theoretisch vertiefendes Seminar.Es behandelt den interdisziplinären theoretischen Status der Lebenslaufforschung. Lebenslaufforschung war schon seit dem Start in den 1980er Jahren ein interdisziplinär angelegtes Feld, das sich allerdings erst in jüngerer Zeit von einem Nebeneinander zu einer stärkeren wechselseitigen Befruchtung von Ansätzen aus Soziologie, Psychologie und Biologie hin entwickelt. Gleichzeitig ist die Lebenslaufforschung von einer Spezialität zum Mainstream geworden. Dies wird im Seminar durch die Lektüre von rein theoretischen wie auch empirischen Texten vermittelt und diskutiert.

1. wünschenswert sind Grundkenntnisse in der Lebenslöaufforschung, z.B. durch den Besuch des Seminars zur Lebenslaufforschung im vorangegangenen Wintersemester
2. Englischkenntnisse (Seminartexte sind zum Teil in Englischer Sprache)

Anforderungen an eine aktive Teilnahme sind die regelmäßige Teilnahme am Seminar, das Lesen der Basistexte, eine Kurz-Präsentation (20 Minuten) zum Basistext sowie die Erstellung von „take-home-Botschaften nach 6 Seminarveranstaltungen. Für eine benotete Einzelleistung ist eine Hausarbeit zum Thema der Veranstaltung zum Ende des Semesters einzureichen.
