In diesem Kurs sollen die Studierenden am Beispiel der gemeinsamen Lektüre des Kommunistischen Manifests mit den Zielen und den Methoden bekannt gemacht werden, die bei der Interpretation philosophischer Texte wichtig sind. Geübt werden soll dabei auch das Ordnen und Zusammenfassen von ganzen Gedankengängen, das Klären offener Interpretationsfragen und die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Text.
Für eine Leistungsbescheinigung (im BA-Studiengang) wird die schriftliche Bearbeitung von mindestens vier Aufgaben, die im Laufe des Semesters abgesprochen wird, für einen Leistungsnachweis (im Magister- oder Lehramts-Studiengang) eine Hausarbeit im Umfang von 12 - 15 Seiten, deren Fragestellung individuell abgesprochen wird, erwartet.

Das Manifest ist im 4. Band der Marx-Engels-Werke zu finden. Da für die Kursdiskussion eine einheitliche Seitenzählung sehr nützlich ist, wird empfohlen, diesen Band antiquarisch zu erwerben oder eines der Exemplare aus dem UB-Bestand zu entleihen oder sich die entsprechenden Seiten aus einem der UB-Exemplare zu fotokopieren.
