Die Vorlesung will einen Überblick über die deutsche und internationale Entwicklung der Reformpädagogik in der ersten Hälfte des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts geben. Reformkonzepte werden hinsichtlich ihrer institutionellen Ausrichtung (Schule, Volks- und Jugendbildung, Kunsterziehungsbewegung, Sozialpädagogik) analysiert und sowohl die pädagogischen Akteure (z.B. Lehrervereine) als auch die wichtigsten theoretischen Zugänge und Diskurse werden vorgestellt. Dabei geht es insbesondere um eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit der Reformsemantik und um eine wissenschafts-, sozial- und kulturgeschichtliche Einordnung reformpädagogischer Strömungen.
