Seit etlichen Jahren wird auch im deutschsprachigen Raum der Ansatz der cultural studies zur Kenntnis genommen; in der deutschsprachigen Pädagogik und Erziehungswissenschaft findet erst allmählich eine Auseinandersetzung mit dieser gewissermaßen "erkenntnispolitischen" Praxis statt. Cultural Sudies kann als intellektuelle Praxis verstanden werden, die beschreibt, wie das alltägliche Leben (everyday life) durch und mit Kultur definiert wird, und die Strategien für eine Bewältigung seiner Veränderungen anbietet (Lutter&Reisenleitner): Das Seminar gibt eine Einführung in die intellektuelle Praxis der cultural studies und fragt nach der erziehungswissenschaftlichen Relevanz des Ansatzes.
