Jeweils mit Fallbeispielen aus der Praxis beginnend, werden Grundinformationen über das geltende Landesschulrecht gegeben. Vorgesehen sind folgende für die Lehrertätigkeit wichtige Themenkomplexe: Verfassungsrechtliche Grundlagen; Erziehungs- und Bildungsauftrag; Aufbau und Gliederung des Schulwesens; staatliche Schulaufsicht und kommunale Schulträgerschaft; Rechtsstellung der Schule und innere Schulverfassung; Schulverhältnis, Elternrecht, Schulpflicht; Unterricht, Leistungsbewertung, Schülerrecht; Lehrerrecht; das Reformprojekt "Selbstständige Schule"; Privatschulrecht.
Die Vorlesung ist im BA-Nebenfach Erziehungswissenschaft den Modulen 3.1.3.4 sowie 4.1.3.4 zugeordnet. Neben aktiver Teilnahme können im ersten Modul auch benotete Einzelleistungen erbracht werden.
