Das Ereignisbild als eine Sonderform der Historienmalerei behandelt geschichtliche und dabei vornehmlich politische Ereignisse nicht nur vergleichsweise zeitnah, sondern ist auch um weitgehende Authentizität bemüht. Es findet ab dem späten 16. Jahrhundert Eingang in die Malerei, erlebt im späten 18. Jahrhundert eine erste Blütezeit und wird auch in der Postmoderne immer wieder aufgegriffen.
Das Seminar wird untersuchen, inwieweit die ausgewählten Arbeiten zeittypisch sind, das Ereignisbild sich also im Laufe der Zeit inhaltlich und formal verändert, was auch den Aspekt der (politischen) Stellungnahme der Künstler einschließt.
Nach einer Einführung in die Thematik sollen die TeilnehmerInnen des Seminars zu den ausgewählten Werken Referate erarbeiten und vorstellen.
