XML, die Extensible Markup Language, hat sich im Laufe der letzten Jahre
zu einem beliebten Mittel entwickelt, alle möglichen Arten von Daten zu
repräsentieren. Einerseits lassen sich mit XML textuelle Informationen
wie Webseiten, Anleitungen oder Bücher gut erfassen. Andererseits können
mit XML Daten und komplexe Datenstrukturen wie Adressen,
Geschäftsabläufe oder Genom-Sequenzen textuell dargestellt werden. XML
läßt sich auf vielfältige Weise erstellen, manipulieren und
weiterverarbeiten.Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltungen sollen die Grundlagen von XML und der
Verarbeitung von XML-Dokumenten vermittelt werden. Wir werden uns
ansehen, wie XML-Dokumente aufgebaut sind und wie sich ihre Struktur
formal beschreiben läßt. Anschließend werden wir uns mit der
Verarbeitung von XML-Daten mit Hilfe von XPath/XSLT beschäftigen. Zum
Abschluß lernen wir die Möglichkeiten der Formatierung von
XML-Dokumenten mit Hilfe von XSL-FO kennen.Die Veranstaltung ist offen für Studierende aller Fakultäten. Es werden
keine Vorkenntnisse im Bereich XML erwartet. Die Beherrschung einer
Programmiersprache ist von Vorteil, aber nicht Voraussetzung.Die Veranstaltung findet als Block in den zwei Woche vor
Vorlesungsbeginn (27.9.-8.10.2004) im GZI statt. Aufgrund der begrenzten
