In Deutschland ist eine neue Bildungsdebatte entbrannt. Gefordert wird eine grundlegende Veränderung des Bildungs- und Erziehungswesens. Dabei konzentriert sich die Debatte, wie nicht anders zu erwarten, erst einmal schwerpunktmäßig auf die Schule. Vergleichsweise unklar ist bislang geblieben, welche Rolle die nichtschulischen Lernorte, die informellen Lernprozesse und die außerunterrichtlichen Akteure wie etwa die Kinder- und Jugendhilfe einnehmen. Es geht in diesem Zusammenhang sowohl um die Klärung einer bildungsbezogenen Selbstverortung der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe als auch um ein neues pragmatisches Verhältnis zur Bildungsinstanz Schule. Erst mit der Klärung dieser offenen Probleme eröffnen sich erweiterte Perspektiven für eine moderne Bildungspolitik.
