Title: Intercultural comparison in sociology and social anthropology
Globalisation theories have led to the urge for studying localising processes as well as interactions and interconnectedness between different societies. Within this framework the rethinking of comparative social science research with regard to methodological and empirical issues seems in order. Of course, it is not a question of comparing different regions (in the sense of enlarging regional studies) but to discuss conceptual issues, phenomena and processes on a middle range. Often epistemic communities have developed their own theoretical debates and research questions which might invite for fruitful exchange with regard to global social science.
Speakers shall be invited from Bielefeld and other research institutions and each talk will be announced separately.
