Im Studienprojekt StressDB soll eine Datenbank mit stressrelevanten
Genen von prokaryotischen Organismen erstellt werden. Stressrelevante
Gene sind für fast alle Organismen von grosser Bedeutung, da sie das
Überleben ausserhalb der "optimalen" Umweltbedingungen ermöglichen.
Einige Bespiele solcher Stressfaktoren sind Glucosemangel,
Hitzestress oder Salzstress.
Ein Ziel dieses Projekts ist, eine Datenbank zu implementieren,
die es ermöglicht, stressrelevante Gene zu speichern sowie vergleiche
und komplexe Anfragen über ein Webinterface durchzuführen.
Ein zweites Ziel ist, mittels eines Java-Applets im Browser
hochdimensionale Daten aus Microarrayexperimenten verschiedener
Stressbedingungen zu visualisieren. Hilfreiche Vorkenntnisse für
dieses Projekt sind: Programmierung in Perl oder Java, Datenbanken
sowie Grundkenntnisse in Bioinformatik.
