In der Arbeit an Materialien aus den einzelnen Dissertationsvorhaben werden die in den Projekten entstehenden methodologischen, methodischen und forschungspraktischen Fragen erörtert und in methodische Lösungen umgesetzt. Die Methodenwerkstatt ist als interdisziplinäre, datenorientierte Auseinandersetzung mit den konkreten Fragen einzelner Forschungsprojekte angelegt; sie verfolgt das Ziel, die Standards empirischer Forschung in den Projekten zu sichern und methodentheoretische Reflexionen zu ermöglichen. Sie soll nicht eine Einführung in die empirische Sozialforschung ersetzen. Vielmehr erhalten die Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit, die für die Durchführung von Forschungsprojekten relevanten Methodenfragen praktisch zu bearbeiten.
