Durch die Orientierenden Praxisstudien (OPS) sollen sich die Studierenden mit der Berufswelt der Sportwissenschaftlerin bzw. des Sportwissenschaftlers vertraut machen. Die Organisation kann grundsätzlich frei gewählt werden, wenn eine inhaltliche Anbindung an den Sport - insbesondere das Profil Prävention/Intervention oder Sportentwicklung/Sportmanagement - gegeben ist. Darüber hinaus sind Praktikumplätze u.a. auch in der Sportverwaltung (Verbände, Sportämter ...), bei kommerziellen Anbietern (Studios, Tourismusunternehmen, Handel, Agenturen ...) oder im Bereich der Medien denkbar.
Ein Einführungs- und ein Auswertungsseminar sind für die OPS verpflichtend und werden per Aushang bekannt gegeben.
