397002 Topics in Probability Theory and Statistics for Bioinformatics (S) (WiSe 2003/2004)

Short comment

Contents, comment

Stochastic modelling as well as statistical methods play an increasing
role in bioinformatics and biotechnology. In this seminar, we will first
review the notions and results of probability theory and see how they can
be applied to problems arising in bioinformatics.
After that, the fundamental concepts of mathematical statistics such as
parameter estimation, test theory, confidence intervals and order
statistics will be developed.
