Das Theremin ist wohl das spektakulärste unter den elektronischen Musikinstrumenten. Man spielt es, ohne es zu berühren, indem man seine Hände in elektromagnetischen Feldern bewegt und damit Tonhöhe und Dynamik steuert. Schillinger, Varese, Fuleihan, Martinu, Schleiermacher u. v. a. haben für das Theremin komponiert. In den 50er Jahren wurde es häufig in den Soundtracks von SciFi und Horrorfilmen eingesetzt.
Ein solides Instrument kostet 600 - 700 Euro. Für nur ca. 60 Euro Materialkosten kann auch der absolute Elektroniklaie in diesem Semester ein ordentliches Anfängerinstrument zusammenlöten und dabei allerhand erfahren über Elektroakustik, elektronische Musik, elektronische Musikinstrumente, Komponisten des 20. Jahrhunderts ...
