Die Vorlesung gibt einen Überblick über die wesentlichen Aspekte der geschäftsorientierten Anwendungsentwicklung. Im Einzelnen werden behandelt:
- Geschäftsanalyse als Grundlage für die Entwicklung von IT-Systemen
- Konzeption, Design und Realisierung von Systemen: Hierbei wird u.a. auf die Unified Modeling Language UML eingegangen.
- Einführung und Betrieb von IT-Systemen
- Supportprozesse in der Anwendungsentwicklung: Software Configuration Management, Testen
- Führungsprozesse: Projekt- und Qualitätsmanagement
Im Fokus steht dabei stets der Praxisbezug, d.h. wie können die vorgestellten Konzepte und Modelle auch tatsächlich umgesetzt werden. Dazu wird u.a. auf die umfangreichen Erfahrungen des Bertelsmann-IT-Systemhauses arvato systems zurückgegriffen.
Die Vorlesung wird abgerundet mit einem Überblick über verschiedene Vorgehensmodelle wie z.B. V-Modell, Unified Process oder Extreme Programming.

Die Vorlesung richtet sich an Studierende im Hauptstudium mit Interesse an Softwareengineering.
