In diesem Seminar lesen wir bekannte Erzählungen zentraler Autoren der Romantik. Dass diese Texte noch heute faszinieren, belegt einmal mehr die erst kürzlich vom Regiestar Robert Wilson fulminant in Szene gesetzte und hochgelobte Inszenierung von E.T.A. Hoffmanns ‚Sandmann‘ – ein Text, der überhaupt vielfach für die Bühne, Film- und Fernsehen adaptiert wurde. Wir wollen im Seminar die Erzählungen dieser Autoren genauer im Hinblick auf ihre Einordnung in die ‚Epoche‘ der Romantik erörtern. Was zeichnet diese ‚romantischen‘ Texte aus? Was sind ihre Motive, Themen und Schreibweisen? In diesem Kontext spielen auch Gattungsfragen (handelt es sich um Erzählungen, Novellen, Märchen usw.) eine wichtige Rolle. Sofern Zeit ist und Interesse besteht, können auch noch die Adaptionen der Erzählungen auf der Bühne bzw. im Film berücksichtigt werden.
