Im Zuge der Globalisierung werden Wissensbestände verbreitet, die zur Lösung entwicklungspolitischer Probleme eingesetzt werden. Die Nachfrage nach Experten nimmt zu und verändert dabei das Berufsbild des Entwicklungsexperten. In diesem Seminar soll die theoretische Literatur über die Globalisierung von Wissen, Professionalisierung und Expertentum bearbeitet und mit Länder- und Sektorfallstudien ergänzt werden. Dabei wird der Einsatz von Entwicklungsexperten betrachtet, die einerseits in lokalen sozialen Kontexten operieren und mit 'lokalem Wissen' konfrontiert sind, andererseits dem Druck nationaler und internationaler Entwicklungsbürokratien und globalisierten Lebensstilen ausgesetzt sind.
