Anhand ausgewählter Kapitel der Bücher "Cognitive Psychology" (Robert J. Sternberg) und "Wahrnehmungspsychologie" (E. Bruce Goldstein) soll zunächst in die Wahrnehmungspsychologie (Kognitionspsychologie) eingeführt werden. Im zweiten Abschnitt werden Teilgebiete der Künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) und Überschneidungen mit der Kognitionspsychologie vorgestellt.
Das Forschungsgebiet der KI befasst sich mit der Konstruktion von künstlichen Systemen, die menschliche kognitive Leistungen modellieren. Die Verbindung von KI und Kognitionspsychologie verspricht ein besseres Verständnis der menschlichen Wahrnehmung und des menschlichen Denkens (aus Sicht der Psychologie) und eine deutliche Leistungssteigerung bei Computern und Robotern (aus Sicht der Informatik). Ein Beispiel hierfür sind sogenannte (künstliche) "neuronale Netze", die Teile des menschlichen Gehirns simulieren.
Das Seminar ist für Studierende im Grundstudium gedacht. Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich.
