230818 Discussing Current Topics, level C1 (S) (SoSe 2009)

Contents, comment

This course aims to provide a platform on which students on C1 level can practice their speaking skills. After a few preparatory sessions we will move on to structured group discussions dealing with topics of current interest. The topics will be prepared using newspaper articles and/or audio material on the topics in question. Participants will practice a set of strategies designed to build up their vocabulary and enhance their reading and listening skills as well as hone their discourse management. Regular homework is indispensable for this course.

Course requirements:

  • regular attendance and preparation
  • participation in the graded discussions and other activities (e.g. chairing a discussion)
