Dieses Seminar führt in die Entstehung und die Entwicklung des privaten Konsums, des Konsumgüterverkaufs und des Marketings von Konsumgütern ein. Auf der Grundlage der neueren Forschungen zur Entwicklung der Konsumgesellschaft behandelt das Seminar die zunehmende Bedeutung der Konsumgütermärkte für die Versorgung der Bevölkerung, die soziale Positionierung der Menschen durch demonstrativen Konsum, die Standardisierung von Konsumgütern (Markenartikel) und die Erschließung neuer Massenmärkte für einstige Luxusgüter.
