Zu den täglichen Aufgaben der Molekularen Biologie und Bioinformatik gehört die Benutzung einer wachsenden Anzahl von Software-Werkzeugen, die das Internet zur Verfügung stellt. Dazu gehört der Zugriff auf die großen Datenbanken (GenBank, EMBL, etc.), "Suche nach Homologen Sequenzen", "Vergleich von Sequenzfamilien" und "Bestimmung von Sekundär- und Tertiärstrukturen". Anhand biologisch motivierter Aufgabenstellungen werden Erfahrungen im Umgang mit diesen Werkzeugen vermittelt.

Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an Studierende im Hauptstudium NWI/Biotechnologie und Studierende des B. Sc. Bioinformatik und Genomforschung im vierten Semester.
Die Teilnehmerzahl ist beschränkt. Interessenten tragen sich bitte in die entsprechende Teilnehmerliste ein (Raum D5-116).
Die Übung setzt Vorkenntnisse aus den Vorlesungen "Molekulare Genetik I und II" und "Grundlagen der Sequenzanalyse" voraus. Diese können auch parallel zur Übung, z.B. anhand des Skriptes "Grundlagen der Sequenzanalyse" von S. Kurtz erworben werden.
