RNA-basierte Regulation
Angesichts der geringen Unterschiede in der Genausstattung verwandter
Organismen (etwa Mensch/Maus) erscheinen uns heute die Proteine und ihre Gene nur wie die Bauteile, aus denen Organismen aufgebaut sind - der Bauplan selbst liegt immer noch im Genom versteckt.Als die Entdeckung des Jahres 2002 gilt die Tatsache, dass kleine
RNA-Abschnitte in vielfältiger Weise Gen-Expression und Translation
regulieren.Das Seminar befasst sich - nach einer biologischen Einstiegsphase - mit
algorithmischen Fragen im Umgang mit RNA: RNA Strukturvorhersage,
Strukturvergleich und erste Ansätze, regulatorisch wichtige RNA-Gene im Genom zu entdecken.
