Der MATHEMATIKKOFFER ist ein Angebot für Lehrkräfte, die ihren Schülerinnen und Schülern im Mathematikunterricht handlungsorientiertes, experimentelles Lernen und das selbständige Entdecken von Zusammenhängen ermöglichen wollen. In vier Themenboxen werden Materialien zum Anfassen und Messen, Legen und Zählen, Knobeln und Spielen für die Klassen 5 bis 10 aller Schulformen bereit gestellt.
Der MATHEKOFFER ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt. Im "Jahr der Mathematik" haben an seiner Entwicklung u. a. die MNU (Deutscher Verein zur Förderung des Mathematischen und naturwissenschaftlichen Unterrichts), die Telekom-Stiftung und Schulbuchverlage (Klett, Friedrich) mitgewirkt.
Im Seminar sollen die verschiedneen Einsatzmöglichkeiten des MATHEKOFFERS und anderer Medien erarbeitet und darüber hinaus untersucht werden, wie die im Kernlehrplan geforderten prozess- und inhaltsbezogenen Kompetenzen so nachhaltiger vermittelt werden können.
