Nur scheinbar ein wenig angestaubt, nötigt der thematische Zusammenhang "Sport und Gewalt" vor dem Hintergrund der Rede von der "zunehmenden Gewaltbereitschaft im Alltag" zu fortdauernder Reflexion. Das Seminar hat das Ziel, in Kenntnis unterschiedlicher theoretischer Zugänge der Soziologie und Psychologie verschiedene Schwerpunkte des Themas näher zu beleuchten. Das Interesse fokussiert dabei zuallererst in der - auch historischen - Betrachtung der "Gewalt im Umfeld des Sport" (Stichwort: Hooligans). Allerdings sollen auch vermeintliche Randthemen wie "Gewalt als Medienereignis" oder "(strukturelle?) sexuelle Gewalt und ihren Auswirkungen" nachgegangen werden. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird zudem aus pädagogischer Perspektive Gelegenheit gegeben, über das Thema "Gewaltprävention im Sportunterricht nachzudenken.
