Building on the introductory lecture, the aims of this course are: (1) to develop students' knowledge about social influence by considering both classic and contemporary theoretical, empirical and applied issues within this research area; (2) to foster students' critical appraisal of the theories and methodology used in research on social influence; (3) to enhance students' understanding of English as well as their confidence in using the English language in an academic setting. For the latter purpose, all presentations and discussions as well as all written material will be in English.
Among the topics addressed will be the following: principles and processes of social influence; social influence by minorities and majorities; how to resist social influence.
