Dieses Seminar soll Inhalte rund um Proteine und deren Klassifizierung
vertiefen. Nach einer kurzen Wiederholung zu Aufbau und Chemie von Proteinen
wird zunächst deren Struktur im Mittelpunkt stehen. Dabei soll auch die
Definition und Bedeutung von strukturbeschreibenden Fachtermini nicht zu kurz
kommen.
Nach dieser Einleitung folgt ein knapper Überblick über verschiedene Methoden
der Proteinstrukturanalyse, woran sich eine detailliertere Betrachtung der PDB
(Protein Data Bank) als Archiv makromolekularer Strukturen anschliessen soll.
Von hier aus wird die Thematik zur Klassifizierung von Proteinen hin verlagert,
dabei werden zumindest die Datenbanken SCOP und CATH betrachtet. Weitere
Themenschwerpunkte werden beim ersten Treffen bekannt gegeben; evtl. thematische Vorschläge der Teilnehmer können dann auch diskutiert werden.
