Im Rahmen dieser Vorlesung werden an ausgesuchten Beispielen Umweltprobleme und ihre ökologische Grundlage behandelt. Dabei geht es um das Verständnis ökologischer Gesetzmäßigkeiten zur Steuerung und zur Behebung von Umweltschäden. Neben methodischen Vorgehensweisen werden vor allem Beispiele der Beeinträchtigung der Umweltmedien Wasser, Boden und Luft behandelt, Stichworte: Gewässer und Abwasser, Bodenschäden, Müll, Luftverschmutzung, Strahlung, Lärm, Landschaftsveränderungen (Verstädterung, Industrie, Verkehr), Einwirkungen auf Flora und Vegetation, Fauna. Dabei geht es meist um Schadstoffe und ökotoxikologische Wirkungen. Auch der globalökologische Aspekt soll angesprochen werden.
