This seminar will introduce first-year students to the basics of literary studies - the tools of the trade, as it were. Participants will be taught the terms and methods of analysis and interpretation of texts in the three main literary genres, poetry, drama and narrative. A Reader with primary and secondary texts will be provided in the first session.
Students are strongly urged to make time for the tutorial, which offers support in the organization of studies and provides an introduction to strategies of research and the formal requirements of academic work, as well as a repetition of material presented in class.
