Schlagworthaft als "Web-Services" vermarktet, wird derzeit von den grossen
Software-Firmen - aber auch von Open Source Projekten und
Standardisierungsgremien - die Entwicklung einer neuen Klasse
Internet-basierter Anwendungen vorangetrieben.
Was sind nun diese "Web-Services"? Oft wird dies allgemein so beantwortet,
dass es sich um Software-Komponenten handelt, die ihre Funktionalität
im Internet bereitstellen. Web-Services können vom Benutzer aber auch von
anderen Web-Services aufgerufen werden. Als Datenaustauschformat wird dazu
oft XML verwendet. Eine Reihe XML-basierter Standards
wie UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration),
SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) und WSDL (Web services
description language) dienen der Lokalisierung, Beschreibung und
Kommunikation mit Web-Services. Worum es sich genau bei Web-Services handelt
und welche XML-Standards zur Anwendung kommen, ist Gegenstand des
Seminars.Das Seminar wird im Multimedia-Labor der Fakultät fuer Linguistik und
Literaturwissenschaft an PC-Arbeitsplätzen durchgeführt und richtet sich
an Studierende der NWI (Hauptstudium), Mediengestaltung und
Texttechnologie.
