Sport - die schönste Nebensache der Welt - hat sich im Zuge der Versportlichung der Gesellschaft zu einem Phänomen entwickelt, welches in den Massenmedien (Fernsehen, Radio, Printmedien, Internet) zunehmend Aufmerksamkeit findet. Mittlerweile dürfte sich das System der Massenmedien sogar zum bedeutsamsten Bezugssystem für den Sport entwickelt haben: Über die Präsentation in den Medien kann der Sport nicht nur direkte Einnahmen durch den Verkauf von Übertragungsrechten erzielen, sondern ebenfalls Wirtschaftsunternehmen als Sponsoren gewinnen. Das Seminar will die besondere Beziehung zwischen Sport und Medien, deren Entstehung sowie vielfältigen Erscheinungsformen analysieren. Im Seminar sollen zum einen soziologisch fundierte Analysen zu den mit dieser Entwicklung verbundenen Problemen vorgenommen, zum anderen Darstellungsformen von Sportler/innen in den verschiedenen Medien betrachtet werden.
Mögliche Erbringungsformen für einen Schein können Hausarbeiten, Referate oder Präsentationen sein.
