"sunt qui Propertium malint" (Qunitilian inst. 10.93). So schätzte der Gelehrte Qunitillian den römischen Elegiker Properz ein. Im Seminar wollen wir uns einen Überblick über das Werk verschaffen: Welche Themen greift Properz auf, der sich selbst als römischer Kallimachos bezeichnet? Welches Wertekonzept in Hinblick auf elegische Liebe, das Dichten aber auch auf die Zeitumstände läßt sich erkennen?
Auch die anderen Elegiker Tibull und Ovid sowie der Vorreiter Catull sollen zu Wort kommen.

Grundlage ist die Teubner-Ausgabe von Fedeli, deren Text zur Verfügung gestellt wird. ZUr Anschaffung wird das Reclam-Heft empfohlen.
